Brent Salmons represents public and private companies and investors in a broad range of corporate and financial matters, including mergers and acquisitions, business formation and governance, financing, and debt restructurings. Brent has extensive experience in the energy and project finance, telecommunications, media and technology, and real estate industries. He has represented clients as a real estate lawyer in transactions ranging from $50,000 to over $1 billion in mergers and acquisition and capital funding. Representative transactions include:
Energy and Project Finance
- Represented co-developers in the development and approximately $1.5 billion financing of a new 540MW combined cycle natural gas fired electric generation facility to be built by Astoria energy II in NYC – named 2009 Americas Power Deal of the Year by Project Finance International
- Represented the ad hoc committee of noteholders on the financial restructuring of Preem AB (publ), Sweden’s largest oil company
- Represented the ad hoc committee of bonders in the financial restructuring and settlement of certain bonds of Norse Energy, an oil and gas exploration and production company
Telecommunications, Media and Technology
- Represented The Gores Group, in its sale of Wire One Holdings Inc. to BT United States LLC, a subsidiary of British Telecom
- Represented multiple venture capital funds in their investments in technology firms
- Represented a major regional transmission organization in a transaction to partner with major software developers to create and market power management software
- Represented Lockheed Martin in its sale of COMSAT Internationale

- Represented several Washington, D.C. real estate development firms in the formation of several real estate limited partnerships, each with investments of more than $100M
- Represented a major Washington, D.C. real estate development firm in its formation of a real estate investment trust with investment of over $200M
