Practice Focus
An experienced litigator who balances his time between the state and federal courts, Mr. VerStandig handles a wide variety of cases from inception to resolution, garnering results through trials and settlements alike. When not in court, Mr. VerStandig counsels various regional businesses, an international charity, and numerous individuals whose complex and diverse personal holdings regularly invite an equally complex and diverse array of legal issues.
With a background heavy in insolvency work, Mr. VerStandig studied under some of Florida’s preeminent bankruptcy attorneys before spending a year working for the Hon. John K. Olson on the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida. He then served as law clerk to the Hon. Steven G. Salant on the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, Maryland, managing a wide array of civil matters and gaining appreciable experience in the field of domestic relations law.
Since joining Offit Kurman, Mr. VerStandig has diversified his practice, guiding corporations and individuals through all varieties of litigation in the Maryland, Virginia and Florida courts, while also working to structure myriad of financial transactions and corporate deals. He is an advisor and counselor at law to multiple communications companies, real estate investment entities, retail businesses, and individual entrepreneurs.
When not advocating on behalf of clients, Mr. VerStandig regularly pens legal columns for Pokernews.com, and is the proud owner of a thoroughbred racehorse, with licenses to race in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Ontario.
