OFFIT KURMAN FILES RECEIVERSHIP ACTION FOR NATIONAL COLLECTION LAW FIRM MANN BRACKEN, LLP IN THE CIRCUIT COURT FOR MONTGOMERY COUNTY MARYLAND CASE NO V327646

James M. Hoffman, Esq. and William C. Davis, III, as counsel to Mann Bracken, LLP (“Mann Bracken”), filed a Petition to Appoint Receiver for the national law firm of Mann Bracken.  Mann Bracken is the successor in a 2008 merger of three (3) law firms (Wolpoff and Abramson, Mann Bracken and Eskanos and Adler) that engaged in collection efforts on behalf of some of the largest credit card issuers in the country.  According to the Petition filed with the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, an administrative service provider for Mann Bracken misused millions of dollars to which Mann Bracken was entitled.  Mann Bracken is believed to have more than Seven Hundred and Fifty (750) creditors who are owed millions of dollars in the aggregate.

The Circuit Court for Montgomery County, Maryland granted the Petition that Offit Kurman filed and it appointed Cheryl E. Rose, Esq. as a Receiver.  Ms. Rose has employed Offit Kurman as Counsel to the Receivership Estate.  The Receiver and Offit Kurman are working with the former principals of Mann Bracken to recover files, assets, documentation from across the country and to administer the Receivership Estate by collecting assets and distributing the assets to creditors pursuant to Orders entered by the Circuit Court.  There are more than thirty (30) pending lawsuits presently against Mann Bracken across the country.

The Circuit Court authorized the Receiver to send a Notice to Creditors that enables the creditors to file a claim against the Receivership within one hundred twenty (120) days of the appointment of the Receiver.  A copy of the Notice to Creditors can be found here.

Creditors may complete the information requested in the Notice to Creditors and file it together with any supporting documentation with the Clerk, Circuit Court for Montgomery County, Maryland, Judicial Center, 50 Maryland Avenue, Rockville, Maryland 20850.
