September 20, 2010.
Karen Shafrir has joined Offit Kurman in its Bethesda Office as a new associate.
“We continue to grow rapidly in Bethesda and through the mid-Atlantic corridor,” says John Raftery, Practice Group Leader for the Landlord Representation practice “Our clients’ needs in the current economic environment required another attorney in our group. As a clerk for the Maryland Court of Appeals, Karen has the experience and analytics to bring effective representation to our firm and our practice areas.”
“I am excited to join Offit Kurman,” Karen Shafrir said. “There is so much going on in this office; I am excited because I’ll be able to have court time and to work on more diverse matters than many other associates who are just joining firms.”
Ms. Shafrir is a former law clerk to the Honorable Mary Ellen Barbera, Court of Appeals of Maryland (2009-2010). During law school, she clerked in the Economic Crimes Division of the United States Attorney’s Office, Southern District of Florida, where she worked on an ongoing prosecution for a viatical fraud case and wrote memoranda on specific criminal law issues such as standards for trial severance, charging continuing offenses, and conspiracy withdrawal. She also served as a research assistant to two law professors, and as an intern to the Honorable Kenneth Ryskamp, Southern District of Florida.
