Offit Kurman Welcomes Steven David Stone To Its Litigation Practice Group

Tysons Corner, VA | June 5, 2013 – Offit Kurman welcomes Steven David Stone as a principal in the firm’s litigation practice group.  Mr. Stone began his legal career, after Princeton University and the University Of Richmond Law School in the VA Attorney General’s office. He then moved home to Fairfax County and worked with two well-known law firms before establishing his own firm in Alexandria.

Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Stone has been fully involved in the civic, religious, and political affairs of Northern Virginia, having served in a variety of local civic associations, chambers of commerce, attorneys’ organizations, educational associations and foundations, political action committees, and religious organizations.  During his involvement in the political life of Virginia, he served Governor Robb, various successors and officeholders, then as a local Party Chairman, lobbyist and, on occasion, Campaign Chairman.  Additionally, he regularly hosts political fundraisers.  Steven is proud of his involvement in the leadership of the Northern Virginia Jewish Community and Pro-Israel causes. In AIPAC, he serves on the National Council and Washington Executive Committee. For the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, he serves on the Board of Directors and has chaired local events. For the past seven years, he has been Virginia Chairman of the Jewish Community Relations Council.

A significant area of Mr. Stone’s wide-ranging practice has been his representation of area educational associations and their members, including the Virginia Education Association. In addition, he has served as counsel to other trade and professional organizations; to various corporations; and to the Virginia Department of Transportation. Mr. Stone represents clients before Virginia state and federal courts, government agencies, local governments, and school boards. His practice has also extended to legislative and lobbying services on behalf of a variety of groups.

Mr. Stone has had numerous high profile cases involving teachers, including one that was featured as a national special on CBS’ 48 Hours in 1995.  In 1988, he served as the Legal Consultant, for the movie, “Chances Are” assisting the director and actors (Robert Downey Jr. and Mary Stuart Masterson).  Since 1999, Mr. Stone has been accepted as a life member of the National Registry of Who’s Who.

Mr. Stone has been named to “Best Lawyers 2013” and since 1999 has been accepted as a life member of the National Registry of Who’s Who.  Mr. Stone has received the highest professional (AV) rating from his peers, as reported by Martindale-Hubbell. .
