Bethesda, MD | May 5, 2014 – For Immediate Release

Offit Kurman, P.A., is pleased to announce that two of its attorneys, Ira E. Hoffman and Edward J. Tolchin, will anchor a breakout session — titled “When is ‘Protection Money’ a Necessity: Legal and Insurance Issues in Managing Cyber Financial Risk” — at the inaugural CyberMontgomery cyber forum, which will be held at the Universities at Shady Grove in Rockville, MD, on May 22, 2014. As Mr. Hoffman, the panel moderator and member of the CyberMontgomery Advisory Board, explained: “Cyber breaches are persistently growing in intensity, frequency and impact, with the result that companies of all sizes are increasingly confronted with new challenges and risks to the security of their confidential information, their reputation, their financial health, and their legal exposure. The purpose of the session, then, is for the panelists to discuss strategies for better protection against financial risks arising from inevitable cyber attacks.” Joining Messrs. Hoffman and Tolchin on the panel will be Rachel Lavender, a Senior Vice President at Marsh, a global business insurance company, and Dan Sady, a Director of Advisory Services at Dixon, Hughes, Goodman, LLP, a regional accounting and consulting firm.

About CyberMontgomery: CyberMontgomery is the brainchild of the Montgomery County Department of Economic Development, the Federal Business Council (FBC) and Ira Hoffman. Elected officials from Congress and the County will also participate, as will cyber thought leaders from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Discovery Communications, Lockheed Martin, Kaspersky Labs, Triumfant, Koolspan, DMI, local academic institutions and the Maryland Department of Economic & Business Development.
