For immediate release
Bethesda, MD | February 4, 2014 — Offit Kurman, P.A., is proud to announce that Ira E. Hoffman, a Principal in the Firm’s International, Cybersecurity, and Government Contracts Practice Groups, has been appointed to the Board of the Maryland/Israel Development Center (MIDC). Mr. Hoffman, who is based in Offit Kurman’s Bethesda, MD office, was also named Co-chair of the newly formed MIDC Montgomery County Committee. The MIDC is a non-profit membership organization that promotes trade and investment between Maryland and Israeli companies. It is a public-private partnership of the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development, Israel’s Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Montgomery County Deptartment of Economic Development, plus Jewish charitable organizations in Maryland. The Montgomery County Committee has the same mission as the MIDC, except that its focus is Montgomery County.
Barry Bogage, Executive Director of MIDC, said: “Ira Hoffman has been a strong supporter of the Maryland/Israel Development Center for a number of years, and I am pleased to have him join the MIDC Board. Not only does he bring his experience from having lived and worked in Israel to the Board, but also his contacts as a member of the Governor’s International Advisory Council and the CyberMaryland Advisory Board, plus the substantive knowledge he has gained from nearly 30 years as a lawyer practicing government contracts and international law.”
“Having studied in Israel, and having served as Counsel to the Israeli Ministry of Defense Mission to the United States,” Hoffman added, “I am proud to have been appointed to the MIDC Board, where I will strive to help Maryland firms grow their exports to Israel, and help Israeli companies, particularly innovators in cybersecurity, establish a foothold in Maryland.”
