FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
OFFIT KURMAN ENHANCES LABOR & EMPLOYMENT PRACTICE GROUP WITH ADDITION OF KYE PAWLENKO
Baltimore,MD | May 3, 2012 – Offit Kurman is pleased to announce that Kye Pawlenko has joined the firm as a new principal and will devote his practice exclusively to representing management in all aspects of labor and employment law.
An experienced litigator, counselor and advisor, Mr. Pawlenko focuses on representation of employers in complex labor and employment matters with a specific emphasis on representation of employers in unionized environments. He has experience in representing employers in unfair labor practice and union representation proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board, in labor-management grievance arbitration, and at the table in collective bargaining, including negotiations for first contracts. Mr. Pawlenko also has experience counseling employers, particularly hospitals and other health care providers, during short-term work stoppages such as one-day strikes often called by nurses’ unions. In addition to health care providers, Mr. Pawlenko represents employers in the telecommunications, transportation, manufacturing, and retail industries.
Howard Kurman, Chair of Offit Kurman’s Labor/ Employment Practice Group, commented, “We are thrilled to have an attorney join us with the depth of knowledge and experience that Kye has at such a relatively young age, and we know that he will be a valuable asset to Offit Kurman in our aggressive representation of our clients’ labor/employment law needs. Kye joins us from Jones Day in Washington, D. C. where he also represented management in a variety of labor/employment litigation issues.”
Adds Mr. Pawlenko, “I am really excited to be joining the Labor & Employment Practice Group at Offit Kurman. This is a terrific platform for growing my practice and taking it to the next level. Offit Kurman is one of the fastest growing full service firms in the mid Atlantic, and is attracting clients, not just regionally but also nationally and internationally. I look forward to a long and happy career here.”
Prior to joining Jones Day, Kye worked as a trial attorney in the Special Litigation Branch of the National Labor Relations Board, where he argued cases in federal, district and circuit courts. He was an associate at Latham & Watkins in Los Angeles and clerked for federal judge Rosemary Collyer on the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.
Mr. Pawlenko graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a B.S. in Journalism, received his J. D. from Tulane University School of Law, and his LL. M. in Labor and Employment Law from New York University.
